Takes a Lickin' and Keeps on Tickin'

I have not been able to keep furniture in my booth recently.  That's a good problem to have and I'm not complaining.  It's just that May is the craziest time of year at school and I haven't had much time to paint.  So I recently went shopping for some pieces that were move-in ready.  No luck.

But I found this desk.  Look at those legs!  This could really be cute and wouldn't take a life-time to paint.

It had, however, seen better days.  I love me some natural, time-worn shabbiness, but this isn't it.

So, I pulled out the Citristrip and got to work.  After stripping and staining the top, I painted the base my favorite color (for the moment) - Provence.

I prefer to do my distressing before I wax so I gave it some shabbiness, then two coats of clear wax.

The brass hardware had to go so they got a coat of oil-rubbed bronze paint.

This great desk is dead beat no more!
It's move-in ready and I'll be moving it in tomorrow!
