Bring in the Clowns

A few years ago my daughter got married and I decided to re-decorate her bedroom.  That was pre-blog era so there are no before pictures, but here's what it looks like today.

I started with blue walls and black furniture and added splashes of red.  I found this fabulous vintage red and white quilt to throw on the bed.  And the redwork pillow shams are to die for!

The old circus poster fit the color scheme quite well.

Of course this vintage rolly clown had to go in the room.  The fabulous tray was in the shop but I couldn't bear to part with it.

I found these two vintage ice chests and stacked them to make a night stand.  My husband made the lamp from tea cups.

Above the chest of drawers hangs an old tin child's circus chalkboard.

And above the vanity are red transfer plates.

But my favorite thing in this room is the curtain rod!
Not something you'd typically care much about, but when I saw this in a local market, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it!

It's a vintage garden soaker hose!  It's made of muslin canvas and came on the metal spool.  How cool is that!

I used old brass garden sprayers to drape the hose across the top of the window.

I kinda like the way it turned out.  Finding new uses for old things is my favorite way to decorate!
