Grateful and a Chalkboard Window

School starts for me tomorrow, though kids don't come back for three weeks.  The next three weeks will be a flurry of get-ready stuff.  So I've tried to spend the past week getting some projects finished and ready for the shop.

A few months ago my husband found some vintage wooden windows and brought them home.  They weren't anything fancy, but they were free!

I had already used one for a creative project (seen here) and it sold the day I took it into the shop!  So I decided to do something similar to this one.

I started by using my Silhouette to cut a transfer of some birds. Then I added a phrase from one of my favorite songs and applied the vinyl to the back of the window.

I taped off the bottom window, applied a spray-on primer, and painted it with chalkboard paint.

I need to put hangers on it and it's ready to take to the shop.

I wonder how long this one will last?

Oh I love what you did. How cute. Good luck in school It has to be hard to go back 3 weeks before the kids do.

I just gave away a bunch of vintage window frames just like that. Wish I'd seen this post first! Very neat idea. :)

That window can last for a longer period if you’ll gonna be careful enough in using the chalkboard. I hope you placed very tight hangers that will prevent the window from falling. It might hurt anyone that will be cut by the glass. I hope you’re enjoying the use of this chalkboard now. :)

If it’s in your shop, I bet it won’t last long before someone will readily grab and buy this one. You breathed new life into the old window with the chalkboard, and how you re-designed this is absolutely spectacular! Well, I can see you’re very crafty and I think whoever bought this will enjoy the beauty it can add to where they’ll place this. :)

A window turned into a chalkboard will be a great design for a library or a study room inside your house. You can also place this inside your kid's room, especially when they're already starting to learn how to write their name. This is a great design and a-must-do-craft for those DIY-ers that have sticks of old windows at their basement. However, when you're about to install your windows on your rooms, make sure that you place it properly or you may seek professional help for the work to be done.
