I love the hand-carved curves at the top! But it could use some personality. I waffled between upholstering the flat panel and painting the legs and border off-white or painting it turquoise. I decided that the piece was too rustic to be upholstered. So I gave it a coat of Provence, topped it off with a coat of clear wax followed by dark wax.
You can see the difference the dark wax made!
Here she is finished. She's a queen size and has rails.
Showing off here this week:

(Found you on I Should Be Mopping the Floor!)
Boy - I do love that transformation. Not I'm kicking myself for not picking up the sweet headboard and footboard I saw at the dump this weekend! It would have been great for a fix like this!
I love it. The dark wax really makes it!
Thanks for sharing at Restyled Sundays.
Love the bed! The color is gorgeous!
I have a new weekly link party which is live now and I would love if you stop by and link up this wonderful post! Hope to see you there! http://mariaelenasdecor.blogspot.com/ Hugs, Maria
I love this! I have those experiences all the time--and I would have done the same thing (driven all the way back)! Now I'm rethinking a bed I saw on CL that had a similar shape. This color is awesome.
Just posted but got distracted and forgot to ask my question! Did it come with the rails or did you get those separately? If you got them separately, where did you get them? Are they a standard-size thing?
Cyndi I L.O.V.E this bed! I know what you mean about passing up something then kicking yourself. We were at an antique auction on Monday night and I did just that... I quit bidding $10 too soon. Ugh! All I've been able to think about is that darn dresser that got away! LOL Glad you were able to get your bed -- you did a gorgeous job on it. XOXO
This is just beautiful! I love the color!

Cyndi - Beautiful redo. Love all of those curves. You're lucky it was still there. I usually don't have that kind of luck! Great job!
