Another Scripture Chalkboard

Can't say it's been a productive weekend.  I did get two small projects finished, but I hit a dead end twice with a demon buffet and he's got me stumped on how to proceed.  So tonight I'll show you one that DID get finished!

Last summer I bought three old arched window frames from a friend.  I knew when I bought them I'd make chalkboards out of them.

The first one was this one.  I painted the frame in Provence and decided to keep it.

I decided to leave the frame shabby white on the next one.
You can read about it here.

So this weekend I decided to get the last one done.
I painted the frame in Emperor's Silk and the hubby cut a board for the chalkboard.

I chalked up another scripture and took it to the shop on Saturday.

I'm claiming His promise that my demon buffet will not overcome me!

Playing Catch-up with a Window

I'm an elementary school principal so I guess it's no surprise that my "free" time has been few and far between lately!  I did have time today to catch up on a few projects that I started months ago.

It felt good to have a creative outlet today.  I've had a few of these windows floating around that my husband found in an alley.  I'm not complaining about free!

Last month I painted the bottom pane with chalkboard paint.  I wasn't sure how well it would stick to the glass so I used a spray primer first.

Then it sat in my garage for a month.  Or more.  So today I pulled it out and finished it.

Several months ago I did this window.  You can see more of it here.  I wanted to do a different quote this time.

So I pulled out my Silhouette and whipped up a design and cut it out of vinyl.  It was inspired from a quote from blogland but I can't for the life of me find it now.  (If it's you, let me know so I can give a proper shout-out).

This will be heading to the shop soon.

This is certainly the sentiment that I need to remember going into the busy holiday season!

Grateful and a Chalkboard Window

School starts for me tomorrow, though kids don't come back for three weeks.  The next three weeks will be a flurry of get-ready stuff.  So I've tried to spend the past week getting some projects finished and ready for the shop.

A few months ago my husband found some vintage wooden windows and brought them home.  They weren't anything fancy, but they were free!

I had already used one for a creative project (seen here) and it sold the day I took it into the shop!  So I decided to do something similar to this one.

I started by using my Silhouette to cut a transfer of some birds. Then I added a phrase from one of my favorite songs and applied the vinyl to the back of the window.

I taped off the bottom window, applied a spray-on primer, and painted it with chalkboard paint.

I need to put hangers on it and it's ready to take to the shop.

I wonder how long this one will last?
